The University of Texas at Austin has invited applications for the recruitment of Research Associate-Acoustic Materials and Signal Processing.
Job Title: Research Associate
Job Location: Austin – J. J. Pickle Research Campus (North Austin)
Educational Qualification: Ph.D in engineering, physics, mathematics or other related applied science with a specialization in acoustics and nonlinear wave mechanics.
Required Skills: Knowledge of linear and nonlinear acoustic wave propagation in viscoelastic media and experimental techniques such as near field acoustic holography. Must have experience in (i) acoustical measurements in both air and water including linear and nonlinear effects; (ii) bubble dynamics; and (iii) acoustical signal processing, including system identification, filter design, beamforming and array processing. Fluency with technical computing software such as Matlab or Python. Applicant must have experience presenting at scientific conferences and publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals. The selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.
Years of Experience: 5 years of experience in theoretical and experimental evaluation of acoustic wave phenomena and acoustic measurement systems.
Preferred Qualification: The ideal candidate should have a detailed knowledge of nonlinear continuum mechanics, finite elastic deformation, and the theory of elastic wave propagation. Preference for applicants with postdoctoral fellowship experience. Applicants with a record of high quality research demonstrated through publications in peer-reviewed archival journals and previous experience interacting with government sponsors are strongly preferred.
Salary: $7,083 – $9,166+ depending on qualifications
