Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) is a premier research institute in India, exclusive devoted to research in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. It is located at Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), the capital city of the state of Kerala in India. This centre is an autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology of the Govt. of India. Previously, it was an R&D centre under Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment.
RGCB has invited applications from suitable candidates for one position of Project Fellow in a KSCSTE funded metagenomics project entitled “Geospatial scale metagenomics profiling of mass-transit systems in Kerala” in the Laboratory of Dr Shijulal Nelson Sathi at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, KINFRA Campus, Kazhakkuttom, Thiruvananthapuram. This position is co-terminus with the end of the project.

Job Location: Kerala, India
Educational Qualification: Master’s level Degree in Microbiology, Medical Microbiology or Biotechnology.
Years of Experience: 1-year experience in basic molecular techniques.
Desirable Qualification: Motivated student with keen interest in metagenomics and its applications. Candidates who have hands-on research experience in microbial culture techniques, DNA/RNA extraction, NGS library preparation etc. will be given preference. Furthermore, good knowledge in bioinformatics and statistics is desirable.
Salary: Rs. 22,000/- (consolidated) per month.

Selection Process: In the event of more than 10 candidates being short-listed by screening the applications, a written test will be conducted before the selection interview and only those who are successful in the written test will be interviewed.
